Q11: Is the difference in the way the celestial sphere is divided the only difference between Astrology and Astronomy?

A: No. The sun according to astrologers spends equal periods in the 12 constellations, while according to the science of astronomy, it spends different periods of time in each constellation this means that the astrological map and the predictions based on it are quite different and contradictory.

Q12: Why can’t the constellations be taken as elements for predictions?

A: The constellations by virtue of their nature cannot be considered as one whole unit.

Q13: What do you mean by that?

A: The shapes that constellations take have no significance at all. Let’s not be fooled by how they look from Earth. If we raise our heads and look at the sky, they seem to be like a regular pattern over a flat surface. They differ in distance, movement and in the radiation and heat they emit. So what we consider as a constellation is only a reflection of what we see. For example the   two stars in the Big Bear constellation “Dubah” and “Qaed” move into a different direction from the other five that form the constellation. Thousands of years from now, the constellation will look quite different from the one present today.

Q14: On what basis was the shape of each group formed?

A: The divisions between constellation are arbitrary. They were given qualities to suit their shapes, and names inspired by legends of animals. The stars within them were also chosen arbitrarily to suit the images they inspired. It is difficult to define exactly where to position certain stars should in the boundaries within   constellation Andromeda and constellation Pegasus..

Q 15: why shouldn’t we, in principle, believe what is prophesied by astrologers and especially when it fits?

A: Actually what is said fits in the generalities of most people. Nostradamus the famous and most commonly known and quoted astrologer left some texts so vague that no two can agree to their interpretation, and yet every one could understand it the way it suits him.

Q 16 Scientists don’t deny the influence of celestial bodies on humans during certain periods of natural phenomena like solar activity and the pull of lunar gravity?

A: That’s one thing and the belief that the birth date of an individual and the crossing or conjunction of certain stars or planets within a certain constellation influences his or her destiny is something else. This is why the astronomer Karl Sagan said that the obstetrician plays a greater role in the destiny of an individual than all these factors.

Q 17: How do you then explain the start of the menstrual period of women in primitive societies with the full moon?

A: The reason is social more than astrological. The moon in the prehistoric era was the sole reference in matters of agriculture, when to plant and when to harvest. It is even so today. In prehistory men used to hunt and women used to stay behind. During full moon, when hunting   and food gathering could be maximized, men were pushed to go to work by through an intelligent tactic: by becoming unsuitable for mating. It is almost like a common strike in modern societies.  By this unconscious strategy nature exerted its pull on women’s menstrual cycle to make them unavailable to please the whims of men during this particular period; the men would then feel that they were losing nothing by doing the harvest. Recent studies have shown that such behavior can be replicated and disseminate as if contagiously. Scientists have shown that girls in boarding schools and shortly after the beginning of their communal life together start menstruating in tangent.

Q18: How do you explain the similarities some people in the same zodiac share?

A: And how do you explain their differences? Similarities and differences have nothing to do with horoscopes but are sheer coincidence. Great men and women share many similarities as well as differences regardless of their horoscopes. No one can predict their destinies.

Q 19: What does the word “Prediction” means exactly?

A: It is the ability to accurately and definitely determine that such a thing is going to happen on such a day and such an hour and on such a fraction of a second. Astronomers send space ships to encounter comets on trips that last many months without the failure of the rendezvous which is predicted initially by calculations.

Q20: Is there more to be said on astrologers?

A: How do they feel they find out that the scientific basis for their claims is fake. Relying on a two thousand year old celestial map drawn by Ptolemy the Great is like navigating the earth using an antique map that depicts the earth as being flat.
