Current Statistics

Euros 6 millions is the cost of a large-scale study to be conducted by the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs in association with the World Bank to examine poverty in Lebanon, knowing that the Lebanese government had, in the past, conducted dozens of similar studies tackling poverty and means to fight it.

18,000 patients were admitted to the Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut during 2008. The Health Ministry is paying for the hospitalization of 11,000 patients. Bills paid by the ministry amount to LBP36 billions.

LBP1.5 million Credit cards are available on the Lebanese market. Credit cards expenditures reached up to LBP410 millions during the period stretching between March and April 2008. Numbers reveal that credit cards are the Lebanese people’s preferred means to make payments.

USD13.6 billion is the estimated contribution the tourism sector makes to Lebanon’s economy in 2008, and this constitutes around 5.6% of the Gross Domestic Product for 2008.

LBP22.6 millions is the cost of the phone bill for the Jaafari Dar al-Fatwa for the months of July, August, and September 2007. This is considered as a rather expensive bill.

LBP527.6 million is the total amount paid by the Lebanese Government to ratings giant Standards and Poors to compile a credit ratings profile for Lebanon.
